Chennai to Kerala by train: overnight options?
Several, as of October 2026: Chennai–Ernakulam trains (Alleppey Express, Chennai–Trivandrum Mail and others) take 11–13 hours overnight; Trivandrum is 14–16 hours. Fly instead for a 4-night trip, about 1 h 15 m each way.

Chennai to Alleppey distance by road?
About 690 km and 12–13 hours of driving via Salem and Palakkad, so most guests fly to Kochi (1 h 15 m) and drive 1.5 hours to Alleppey, or take the overnight Alleppey Express train, which arrives in the morning.
