Day01
Upon arrival: At Udaipur Domestic Airport or Jaipur Railway Station, a Bayard Vacations representative will receive you and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Standard check-in is at 12:00 PM. After freshening up, proceed for afternoon sightseeing.
City Palace, Udaipur (Approx. 2 hrs, entry fee applicable): The largest palace complex in Rajasthan, built progressively by 22 successive Mewar rulers over 400 years from 1559. It sits on a ridge above Lake Pichola, with white marble and granite towers reflecting in the lake below. The museums display the personal armoury, Mewar miniature paintings, crystal furniture, mirror-mosaic interiors, and the coronation hall. The view from the palace ramparts over Lake Pichola, Jag Mandir, and the Lake Palace Hotel is one of India's finest urban panoramas.
Jagdish Temple (Approx. 30 min): A magnificent Indo-Aryan temple built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located 150 metres from the City Palace gate, it is surrounded by an active market neighbourhood. The exterior walls carry intricate sculptures of gods, celestial musicians, and elephants. Puja ceremonies run continuously and the temple is accessible to all faiths.
Lake Pichola & Boat Ride (Approx. 1.5 hrs, boat ride at own cost): A man-made freshwater lake created in 1362, Lake Pichola is the romantic heart of Udaipur. The government RTDC boat ride from the City Palace jetty passes alongside the Lake Palace Hotel (a Taj heritage property that appears to float entirely on water) and stops at Jag Mandir Island. The views of the City Palace, the ghats, and the Aravalli hills from mid-lake are incomparable.
Gangaur Ghat (Approx. 30 min, best at sunset): A picturesque ghat famous as the starting point of Udaipur's Gangaur festival procession. The stone steps, colourful boats, and old city backdrop make it a favourite for photography, especially in the hour before sunset.
Bagore Ki Haveli: Evening Cultural Show (Optional, ticketed — 7:00 PM daily) — A restored 18th-century aristocratic haveli on Lake Pichola's banks hosting Rajasthani folk dance, Bharatanatyam, puppet shows, and live musical performances in a beautiful courtyard. One of Udaipur's most entertaining and authentic cultural evenings. Pre-booking recommended.
Evening: Return to hotel. Overnight stay in Udaipur.
Client Note City Palace and Jagdish Temple are a short walk apart — visit them consecutively. Allow at least 2 hours for the City Palace museum; 2.5 hours for a thorough visit. The boat ride to Jag Mandir is ticketed directly at the government RTDC jetty near the palace — the Lake Palace Hotel is not accessible to non-guests; the boat passes alongside it. Bagore Ki Haveli show bookings can be arranged by your tour coordinator or directly at the haveli.
