Day01
Upon arrival: At Udaipur International Airport or Udaipur Railway Station, a Bayard Vacations representative will receive you and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Standard check-in is at 12:00 PM. After freshening up, proceed for afternoon sightseeing.
Saheliyon Ki Badi (Garden of the Maids of Honour) (Approx. 45 min, entry fee applicable): A delightful royal garden built by Maharana Sangram Singh in the 18th century for 48 handmaidens who accompanied his queen. Features ornate elephant-shaped fountains, marble kiosks, lotus pools, and a rose garden. The gravity-fed fountain system operates without pumps — exactly as designed over 300 years ago.
Fateh Sagar Lake (Approx. 45 min): A large artificial lake north of the city connected to Pichola via a canal, with a pleasant lakeside promenade and boat rides to Nehru Island. The morning walk along the lake's eastern bank, with the Aravalli hills reflected in the still water, is particularly peaceful.
Jag Mandir Island Palace (Approx. 1.5 hrs, boat access at own cost): An island palace in the southern part of Lake Pichola, built between the 17th and 18th centuries. The Mughal prince Shah Jahan (later Emperor) took refuge here when he rebelled against his father Jahangir. The marble elephants at the landing, garden pavilions, and the view of the City Palace from the island are exceptional.
Vintage and Classic Car Museum (Approx. 45 min, entry fee applicable): The Udaipur royal family's personal collection of historic automobiles, including a 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom, 1938 Cadillac, and rare vintage Mercedes — all in original condition. A unique insight into the extravagance of the Mewar court.
Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh) (Approx. 1 hr including drive, entry fee applicable, jeep hire additional): Perched at 944 metres on the Aravalli Hills above Udaipur, built by Maharana Sajjan Singh as a hilltop retreat to observe monsoon clouds. The palace offers the most sweeping 360-degree panoramic view over Udaipur, its lakes, and the Aravallis. Sunset from Sajjangarh is considered the finest in all of Rajasthan.
Karni Mata Ropeway & Temple (Optional, ropeway fare additional): A cable car ascending above Doodh Talai garden to the hilltop temple, offering excellent aerial views over Lake Pichola and the city. The 4–5 minute ride provides some of the best aerial photography opportunities in Udaipur.
Evening: Return to hotel. Overnight stay in Udaipur.
Client Note Monsoon Palace is accessible only by government-approved jeeps hired at the forest department gate - private cars are not permitted beyond the checkpoint. The jeep hire is a direct cash payment to the driver. Sunset visits are crowded on weekends and public holidays — arriving by 5:00 PM is recommended. Udaipur's shopping areas - Hathi Pol Bazaar (paintings, wooden crafts) and Bada Bazaar (textiles, silver, miniature paintings) - are best explored in the late afternoon. Fateh Sagar promenade is excellent for early morning walks and street breakfast.
